NAMI Vermont : Who We are: The National Alliance on Mental Illness of Vermont is a statewide volunteer organization comprised of family members, friends, and individuals living with mental illness. We were founded in 1983 and incorporated as a state affiliate in 1984. We have experienced the struggles and have joined together in membership to help ourselves and others by providing support, information, education, and advocacy. Our mission is to support, educate, and advocate so that all communities, families, and individuals affected by mental illness or mental health challenges can build better lives. NAMI Vermont has a board of directors, and a professional staff that works out of a central office in Williston. Over the past 40 years, NAMI Vermont provides FREE family and peer support groups, educational classes for family members, peers, and providers, a statewide toll-free Helpline offering information and referral to mental health services, and advocates for improvements in the mental health system of care. NAMIWALKS Vermont Event Information: May 16,2026- The United Day of Hope! NAMIWalks Vermont brings together people of all ages to combat stigma, raise funds, and promote awareness of mental health conditions at an annual walk event. NAMIWalks Vermont is not just an annual walkathon — it is a movement that brings together people of all ages to combat stigma, to raise funds to expand our programs and services, and to promote awareness of mental health. This event is our largest fundraiser and outreach campaign, and an opportunity to expand our supportive community. The goals of this event are to bring together peers, families, community members, organizers, and supporters to: 1) Raise awareness and reduce stigma surrounding mental illness. 2) To raise funds for NAMI’s top-rated free programming and services to Vermonters. 3) To build community and let people know that they are not alone. Participants will form teams and raise money up to the day of the event. During the months leading up we will provide activities to encourage and build up enthusiasm for the event. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, May 16,2026 at Centennial Field, Home of the Lake Monster's in Burlington ,VT from 10am to 3pm.
